On March 7th, I had the privilege of witnessing one of the most heartwarming and delightful events in Monroe County—the daddy-daughter dance at Hubbard Elementary School.

As a new resident of the area, I was taken by surprise at how large the turnout was and the variety of activities that were offered.

It was so much more than just a night of dancing.

In addition to hitting the dance floor and enjoying snacks in the cafeteria, the dads and daughters who participated in this year’s event were treated to an array of fun activities. There were two different photo booths where families could capture special memories, as well as a professional photographer who set up a stunning backdrop complete with a chandelier—perfect for creating beautiful, timeless photographs.

But the magic didn’t stop there. The evening also featured a pop-up Build-A-Bear workshop where children could choose their own stuffed animals, step on a button to fill them with love, and embrace their new cuddly friends.

What truly made the evening unforgettable for me was the sight of so many happy little girls, twirling and laughing with their dads. The connection between them was palpable, and it was clear that this event was much more than just a dance—it was an opportunity for these fathers and daughters to create lasting memories together.

I can’t wait to see the magic unfold at the upcoming Mother/Son dance next week! Monroe County really knows how to bring the community together in meaningful way, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
