On April 15th, the Monroe County Board of Education appointed 24-year business and audio/video teacher Susan Little to the position of CTAE Supervisor/Assistant Principal at Mary Persons High School. Her transition into her new responsibilities has proven to be an incredibly eye-opening and revealing adjustment.
Mrs. Little weighed in on how she has adapted to her new role in preparation for the 25-26 school year at MP. It has proven to be a unique scenario considering its unveiling of the school’s brand new Freshman Campus complex and College & Career Academy.
Mrs. Little has taught a variety of classes at Mary Persons for years, including Business Education and AVTF, served as the FBLA advisor, and has stated that career/technical education truly has her heart.
When asked about any specific goals she had in mind for her first year as AP, she added that the CTAE department was a special focus. “We have several new teachers at Mary Persons, especially in our CTAE department. A priority for this year is to help them be successful in the classrooms and with their student organizations.”
Little cited the learning curve for various safety measures and all that happens behind the scenes as the largest adjustments she’s had to make during the early stage of her transition.
For all of the adaptations and adjustments, Little’s transition has been a unique and difficult one. She has an undeniable commitment to the field and has achieved a great accomplishment in her new role.
