Group of students at CPR and First Aid Class.
Clear your calendar for Saturday, April 19 th ! Monroe County Emergency Services will be
hosting a community CPR/AED class *with* First Aid… and space is limited! Your completion
of the class will certify you for 2 years with critical life-saving skills and empower you to step in
to confidently save a life! New parents, new grandparents, teens starting to babysit, this class sis
for you!
Have a hunter in your family? Grandkids who are dare-devils? A farmer? Being trained in First
Aid will give you the skills necessary to act in an emergency situation until more help can arrive.
Topics covered include bleeding management, choking, seizures, using an EpiPen for allergic
reactions, head and spinal injuries, burn injuries, and more.
The CPR/AED component will cover assessment and skills for adults, children, and infants with
CPR, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and choking.
With our rural community, knowing and being proficient with these skills can literally mean the
difference between life and death. For every minute that passes when someone’s heart stops, they
lose 10% of their chance of survival. While there is no minimum age to attend, we have found
that children as young as 10 can grasp the knowledge and children by age 12 can adequately
perform compressions.
